You may have to deal with an antifreeze spill from your car. The best way to remove antifreeze and clean the stains left behind that’s clearing the driveway the minute you see an antifreeze spill. There are various household cleaners that can be used for cleaning the Driveway.

If your driveway is made of asphalt, any type of stain can be a little difficult to clean. Asphalt gets damaged very easily and requires extreme caution and care. Using strong chemicals or even household detergents to clean the road can cause asphalt to weaken easily. Hence it is advised for you to use mild household detergent to clean the surface.

First, mix half a cup of mild detergent in a bucket of warm water. Two thirds water will be enough. Add at least two cups of white vinegar to this mixture. Remember to wear gloves to protect your hand from antifreeze.

Apply a thick paste of the above mixture on the affected area. Leave the mixture on for 10 minutes. Vinegar acts as a bleaching agent and removes stains while the detergent will help loosen the antifreeze from the surface making it easier for you to remove. Now scrub the stain with a hard brush and wash it off with enough water. Failing to completely wash off the vinegar can cause the area to be lighter in color than the rest of the driveway.

It is advisable to use cat litter when cleaning your driveway as it is made of other materials like concrete, gravel, etc. Spray a generous amount of litter on the area where the antifreeze has spread. Let it absorb the antifreeze thoroughly. It may take hardly 30 minutes for small quantity, but if the area to be covered is large, it is better to leave the cat litter out overnight. The next morning, clean it up with a broom or stiff brush and throw the litter in plastic bags. Then sprinkle detergent on the surface and scrub it with a hard brush. Wash down the entire driveway with an adequate amount of water. If you still get the antifreeze stain, repeat the process.

If the stains become too difficult to remove, your last resort should be muriatic acid, which is known to remove almost any type of stain from the roadway. Pressure cleaning your driveway will produce better results than cleaning with a garden hose. Efficiency to remove any type of stain; The minimum time required and the minimum amount of chemicals required as compared to other types of cleaning methods make pressure washing a better type of cleaning technique than other cleaning methods.
